Afternoon Tea at Gilbert White's House

Mistle Thrush
21st January 2017 - Bookham Common, Boldermere and Papercourt Water Meadows

Had a relaxing few hours in the Company of Mr. Michael Force. Our first stop was Bookham Common to try and find a Hawfinch. Alas we dipped. Snipe was a nice fly-over and we got good looks at Kestrel. Boldermere Lake was pretty much frozen over except for a small hole where we found Great Crested Grebe, Little Grebe, Tufted Duck, Common Gull and Gadwall. Goldcrest and Siskin in the pines. At Papercourt watermeadows a Little Owl sat out proud in some good light which was great to see. Fieldfare and Redwing were in good numbers and a wonderful look and opportunity to photograph a Mistle Thrush made my day.

22nd January 2017 - Gilbert White's House

Lori Mooney, Michael Force and I had a wonderful over Selbourne Common and recorded 26 species with great looks at Coal Tit. Then it was back to Gilbert White's house for afternoon tea - which was excellent.
